BRIDAL HAIR JEWELRY TREND REPORT 2008
Many of the bridal hair jewelry trends correspond with bridal jewelry trends, as one would only imagine. Here's we'll go over how the bridal jewelry trends translate into hair jewelry.
|

Hair Jewelry Trends: Convertibles
Convertible headpieces are designs that work either in your hair or as traditional jewelry, like a necklace, bracelet, or brooch. When we talk about convertibles, we are usually talking about our headbands or hair vines that instantly go from hair accessory to necklace. These headbands are great for brides, because you can literally wear the piece as a headband or tiara at your wedding and again as a necklace on your honeymoon. Each headband comes with a detachable clasp and a 3 inch removable extender chain when you want to wear it as a necklace.
Now, several of our other hair jewelry pieces also do double duty like convertibles. Cuff bracelets have been extremely popular when used as bun wraps, as mentioned in our bridal jewelry trend report. Another popular idea is to use a brooch as a hair jewel - just pin it into place with bobby pins.

Hair Jewelry Trends: Hairpins
Speaking of versatility, hairpins are another great option for brides. We're definitely seeing a trend towards the more freeform hairpins and away from more traditional tiara style headpieces. Call them hair jewels, hair jewelry, or hairpins, but they are small jeweled designs attached to a handmade sterling silver pin.
Hairpins are so versatile because they can be worn all together in a row to form a tiara or headband look, as seen on the model above, or you can wear just one or cluster several together on the side of a bun. Be as creative as you'd like when you wear hair jewelry - it's fun to try it out in unexpected ways!

Hair Jewelry Trends: Return to Gold
This trend is of course also being seen in bridal jewelry, but it does carry over into headpieces and hair jewelry as well. We love the Grecian leaf tiara above with an empire waist romantic flowy dress! How perfect! We love it!
Anyway, again, you can bring in some gold accents without using actual gold metal. For example, the hairpin above is made with sterling silver wire on a sterling silver pin, but it uses golden hued citrine gemstones.

Hair Jewelry Trends: The Naturals
Nature has influenced brides since the first bride put a flower in her hair. Then it wilted and died. Which is why, while we LOVE real flowers, we offer some fabulous alternatives.
Perhaps most interesting are our preserved flower petals, flowers, and leaves. The petals in the hairpin above are real rose petals that have been hand painted and preserved to last forever. Embellished with Swarovski crystals and available on a sterling silver pin or comb, these make lovely bridesmaids gifts. We also love the look on a garden or beach bride!
Other natural influences come into play with beaded flower shapes. Popular materials are Swarovski crystals, freshwater coin pearls, and mother of pearl. Metal leaves, like the sterling silver leaves in the Laurel tiara above, are handcrafted and each one is a unique piece of art.

Hair Jewelry Trends: Color
What a fantastic way to have a little fun with your accessories! Adding color to your tiara, headband, or hair jewelry is a fabulous way to incorporate your personal style - and - if you're wearing a tiara - not to look like a pageant queen.
Swarovski crystals come in any color you can imagine, and we are happy to send out free color samples. For our hand painted items, we can match nearly any color swatch, and of course gemstones and freshwater pearls come in all kinds of delicious hues.

Hair Jewelry Trends: Beach Bride
Beach and destination weddings are usually pretty simple and casual, but you can still wear hair accessories! In fact, we think it's really a necessity because a little sparkle in your hair will really make you feel like a bride.
Our starfish hair comb is bridal (freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystals, sterling silver) and beachy. We love feathers and coin pearls for beach weddings too. You can also incorporate seashells into designs, but we always like to add a little sparkle to the pieces with crystals or gemstones. Our marin tiara and hairpins use seashells, freshwater pearls, and Swarovski crystals.

Hair Jewelry Trends: Feminine Filigrees
Classic filigree pieces are timeless, glamorous, and elegant. Our Isadore tiara above uses feathers for a perfect vintage flapper feel. However, most of the tiaras, headbands, and hair jewels using filigree are a little more subtle yet feminine, and are often just the little sparkle needed to finish off a look.
