Please check out this blog

For all of you readers out there looking for an awesomely entertaining blog to follow, please check out cake wrecks. Seriously, there are times when I am laughing so hard I cry. Just look at this recent cake wreck.
Yes, this is a Twilight cake....and the blogger commented that Bella is holding not an apple, but a bell pepper. If you check her blog constantly, she has entries where it shows a picture of what a bride ordered and then a picture of what they received....it's always a horrible photo and you have to wonder if the bride went all bridezilla on the bakery that delivered it. So yes, if you're looking for a chuckle and a way to waste time, check out this blog.

More wedding drama

OMG, don't you hate it when people book events at your venue for the same time and the same day when you've already done so.....

Yes, this has finally happened to me. Argh! The director of catering was fired/left/whatever at our venue and with him went all the knowledge of our supposed Sunday Brunch. He knew since 14 months out that we wanted a brunch in the gardens. He also knew that we have a 200+ wedding guest list. There are 2 places to have brunch; the garden/lawn and the patio. The lawn can accommodate our guests, but the patio only holds about 65 people. Stupid me for not telling him "please write our names down for the garden" because the venue has since booked the garden.

Movie Alert!

Need a new comedy? Want to watch a wedding flick? Check out Bride Wars. Starring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway, it's a fun flick about two best friends whose weddings get booked at the Plaza on the same day. With neither girl willing to budge on a different date or venue, the "battles" begin.....

Let's hope that none of us ever gets in a huge fight like this with one of their friends. Watching it, you can totally see how friends could fight like this. Make sure that you remind yourself over and over again that your friends are more important than your wedding.

Do not play that music white boy!!!!

OMG how many times do I have to hear "Shout!" at weddings? Seriously!

If you haven't thought about it, music can be a huge hit or miss. It determines the mood at your shindig. What kind of soiree are you planning on having? Does your fiance love Sir Mix a Lot and you abhor any song referring to women's back quarters? It may be time to sit down with your fiance and make a list of "do not play" songs. Here is ours...(we are constantly adding to it, so there will be many more. Feel free to comment on ones that should be on here)

YMCA (anything by the Village People)
Shout
Celebrate (Good Times, Come On)
Twist and Shout
I Will Survive
Bohemian Rhapsody (yes, I have actually heard this one at a wedding...and the bride even said that the DJ was not going to play cheesy songs)
Thriller (or any M. Jackson that isn't from the Jackson 5)
Don't Stop Believing (Journey has its own place......a bar)
Baby Got Back
Respect
Freedom
anything by KC and the Sunshine Band
Funky Music White Boy
Brick House
Can't Touch This
I Feel Good
La Bamba
Ladies Night
Sledge Hammer
New York, New York (we live in NYC and I find it uber cliche.....also, I consider myself a hige Sinatra fan and HATE this song)
any group dances ( chicken dance, macarena, hokey pokey, electric slide, conga, limbo)

I hope people can add to this list or maybe even use it themselves. Me and my friends brainstormed this list up with my fiance and we actually all enjoyed creating it.

Yikes!

So my director of catering quit! (or was fired, I'm not quite sure.) No one even called me to tell me that he was gone either. That irked me a tad. No, I didn't go all bridezilla on the venue, but I did have my doubts. Why wasn't I notified? Where did he go? Who is now in charge of my file?

I had a relationship with this old guy (not a great one, but we understood each other and we got back to each other pretty quickly about my wedding stuff). I called the venue to ask him a question and the hotel clerk told me over the phone that "oh, he doesn't work here anymore." WHAT?!

Although I am a little skeptical at first, the new girl that now is filling his position may be a great person at what she does/will do. I have to keep a happy head and positive attitude. All I can hope is that he wrote down all the deals that we had made. I would hate to have to repeat what we've already agreed on.....(no, I am NOT paying for 2 different kinds of salad dressing...I already got an ok on just one!) More to talk about on this when I learn about her.

Airbrushed like no other

Does anyone else wanna puke when they see this picture? I do. I see it everyday in NYC, on the subways, the bus stops, on the sides of buildings....grh. First off, Matthew's face is crazy airbrushed badly. Who is he/the movie company trying to kid? He just had a kid! No one who has a kid stays that young looking.....He also looks stoned, so many be he's channeling Spicoli.

Jennifer looks all wrong too. Why isn't one of them looking at the other person?! The pose looks ridiculous. Whenever I see this poster from afar, Matthew's body looks like it belongs to Jennifer and it looks like she has an extra head. It's horrible....when I first saw the trailer I thought it was so cute, but now I am so sick of seeing it everywhere. Hello, it's the same exact thing as "It's  a Wonderful Life." What's the point?

Honor those who aren't there...

If you're over the memory candle (or in my situation, fiance hates the idea of someone's face melting) maybe you want to have your loved ones' pictures attached to your bouquet. My best friend did this at her wedding and had about 5 of them. I thought it was a really cool idea. I find them super cute and subtle so not everyone has to view them if the death was very hurtful or recent. You can purchase them here. What a great way to personalize your bouquet....And again, no one can know if you wish.
